Omar Calabrese
Omar Calabrese is Professor of Semiotics at the University of Siena and scientific Co-ordinator of the University's Scuola Superiore for the Humanities. Visiting Professor at numerous European and American University institutions, he was also President of the Fondazione Mediateca set up by the Region of Tuscany. Editorialist for the Corriere della sera, he has made a special study of the semiotics of the arts, communication theory, and an analysis of media phenomena. His main publications are: Breve storia della semiotica. Dai presocratici a Hegel (Milano 2001); Il linguaggio dell'arte (Milano 2002);
Bizzarramente. Eccentrici e stravaganti dal mondo antico alla modernità (with M. Bettini, Milano 2002); Come si legge un'opera d'arte (Milano 2006).
